H9.0×W7.9cm 1970' with a signed box
[ Description of the Work ]
Created in the early 1970s, this paper-mache doll embodies the advanced techniques of Living National Treasure Mr. Jūzō Kagoshima.
It was created using the paper-mache doll technique, which involves hand-making washi paper, sculpting the figure from it, applying layers of washi paper dyed in various colors, and finally decorating it with gold and silver sand.
This is a beautiful piece depicting a truly charming young girl warming herself
with her elbows resting on a cat-shaped hand warmer.
The title of the work is “Jusen Washi Kin-sunago tenso Shiso [Fuyukomori].”
It bears the artist’s signature on the bottom and comes in a paulownia wood box with a custom-made, original cloth-covered
outer case.
