Miwa Jyusetsu Sake cup
w10.0☓h4.8cm 2010s with a signed box
[Description of the Work]
This piece was created by Miwa Jusetsu, the 11th-generation master of the renowned Hagi-yaki tradition. After retiring, he took the name Miwa Jusetsu and continued to create pottery well into his hundredth year.
Known for his “snow-white” Shirohagi glaze—a signature feature of his work—he left behind many masterpieces, primarily tea bowls.
This piece is one of the few guinomi (sake cups) created during his Jusetsu period and is characterized by its generously sized form.
The footring bears the signature “寿” carved in relief.
