Yaichi Kusube　楠部 彌弌

1897 Born in Higashiyama, Kyoto prefecture.
1912 Entered Kyoto Ceramic Experimental Station Attached Training Center.
1918 Began ceramics in Sanjo, Kyoto.
1920 Organized a group of ceramists, ‘Aka tsuchi sha’.
1924 Awarded at the Paris Universal Exposition.
1927 Awarded his first prize at Teiten.
1937 Completed ‘Saien’ technique.
1938 Moved to Okazaki, Kyoto prefecture.
1962 Became a member of the Japan Art Academy.
1965 Moved to Yamashina, Kyoto.
1972 Designated as a person of cultural merits by Kyoto city.
1978 Received the Order of Cultural Merit.
1984 Passed away at the age of 87.

Rokubei Kiyomizu Ⅵ 　六世　清水 六兵衛

1901 Born in Higashiyama, Kyoto.
1920 Graduated from the Department of Painting of Kyoto City School of Arts and Crafts.
1925 Began ceramics as an assistant for his father, Rokubei Ⅴ．
1945 Succession to the name.
1962 Became a member of the Japan Art Academy.
1970 Named a Person of Cultural Merits by Kyoto prefecture.
1976 Became a Person of Cultural Merits.
1980 Passed away at the age of 79.

Uichi Shimizu　　 清水 卯一

1926 Born in Higashiyama, Kyoto.
1940 Apprenticed to Munemaro Ishiguro.
1962 Won a gold award at International Ceramic Exhibition in Prague.
1970 Built ‘Horai-kiln’ at the base of Mt.Horai, Shiga prefecture.
1977 Won a gold award at Japan ceramic society.
1979 Became an executive director at Nihon Kogeikai. (Japan Art Crafts Association)
1983 Solo exhibition at Ginza Kuroda Touen.
1985 Designated a Living National Treasure.
1986 Received a Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon.
1987 Became a president of the department of ceramics, Japan Arts Crafts Association.
1988 Designated as a person of cultural merits by Kyoto prefecture.
2004 Passed away at the age of 77.

Nodo Fujimoto: Sake cup, Akae type

1919 Born in Tokyo.
1941 Graduated from The Tokyo School of fine arts, the department of crafts. (current Tokyo University of the Arts)
1970 Became a professor at the university.
1976 Show at Ginza Kuroda Touen. ‘Ceramic Plaque Exhibition’
1985 Appointed to the president of the university.
1986 Designated the Living National Treasure.
1991 Received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver star.
1992 Passed away at the age of 73.

Shoji Kamoda
　加守田 章二

1933 Born in Kishiwada, Osaka prefecture.

1952 Entered the department of ceramics in Kyoto City University of Arts.

1956 Graduated from the university. Moved to Hitachi, Ibaraki prefecture.

1959 Moved to Mashiko, Tochigi prefecture.

1962 Began producing ash glaze type by Anagama kiln.

1965 Ash glaze type gained attention.

1966 Awarded by the Japanese Ceramic Society. 

1969 Moved to Tono, Iwate prefecture. 

1970 Showed [Kyokusen Chomon, Curving design] for the first time.

1971 Showed [Saishoku, Colored design] for the first time.

1974 Exhibition of [Toban, ceramic plaque] at Ginza Kuroda Touen. (every year onwards)

1979 Moved to Higashi Kurume, Tokyo.

1983 Passed away at the age of 49.
